New Student Leaders Elected

Pasindu Senaratne and Rachel Hunter, the 2019-20 ASI president-elect and vice president-elect.

The Associated Students Inc. (ASI) elections committee announced Pasindu Senaratne and Rachel Hunter as the 2019-20 ASI president-elect and vice president-elect, respectively, after voting concluded on April 18.

Senaratne is a third-year student studying finance, real estate and law. He currently serves as ASI vice president alongside ASI President Jenny Greenberg.

Hunter is a third-year political science student and currently serves in two positions as ASI senate president pro tempore and student interest senator.

Using the campaign slogan "Challenge. Change. Connect," the duo focused on enhancing students' experience by utilizing resources offered through ASI, and encouraging their peers to become actively involved on campus.

"While the primary goal of attending a university is to earn a degree, to truly get a full college experience, involvement in a club or organization is key," Senaratne said. "I have been fortunate enough to be involved in various clubs and organizations and this has given me the opportunity to gain friends, connections and resources both on and off campus. With stressful times that are bound to happen, these support systems have allowed me to thrive at CPP."

A total of 15 candidates were elected to positions within the ASI student government when voting concluded the morning of April 18.

"The newly elected student leaders are an amazing group of individuals that we are thrilled to work with" Hunter said, emphasizing that clubs and organizations are the backbone of student engagement and that their primary focus will be engaging with them.
