Homecoming Features Games, Food and Bronco Spirit on Feb. 27

Cal Poly Pomona's 2016 Homecoming celebration is on Saturday, Feb. 27.

Bronco pride will be on colorful display at Cal Poly Pomona's 2016 Homecoming celebration on Saturday, Feb. 27, from noon until midnight.

The fun starts with a carnival from 1 to 5:30 p.m., featuring a Ferris wheel, giant slide, paratrooper ride and a giant swing. Danny's Petting Farm will bring horses, goats and other animals.

Wafting over the campus will be the aromas of fair-food favorites, including fried Oreos and Snickers, cotton candy, Kettle corn, popcorn, churros, Tostilocos, bunuelitos, buffalo wings, nachos and bacon barbecue hot dogs. To keep visitors quenched, vendors will offer shave ice, frozen lemonade and iced coffee, among other snacks and treats.

Attendees can watch the intramural all-star basketball game at 2 p.m. and cheer on Bronco basketball as the women's team takes on Cal State San Marcos at 5:30 p.m. The men's game against Cal State San Marcos is at 7:30 p.m. in the Kellogg Gym.

The alternative band The Drums will headline the homecoming concert. Their debut album, "The Drums," was released in 2010, with the single "Let's Go Surfing" reaching Japan's Hot 100 Singles. Their later albums, "Portamento" in 2011 and "Encyclopedia" in 2014, each reached No. 10 on Billboard magazine's Top Heatseekers chart.

Crowning the celebration will be a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. over Bronco Commons.

Attendees need to register and get a wristband to enjoy the events. Students, faculty and staff must register to get their free wristbands. Alumni, family, community members and Cal Poly Pomona friends can get wristbands for $12 on the Homecoming website. Parking permits are required and daily passes can be purchased at Lot C.
