In our ever more digitized world, secure personal data can end up in the hands of nefarious individuals with just a few errant keystrokes or missteps.
Data Privacy Day on Jan. 28, an effort of the National Cyber Security Alliance, encourages everyone, including businesses and organizations, to be aware of the ways they can keep data private and the risky behaviors they should avoid.
Cal Poly Pomona and its Division of Information Technology are committed to this effort. The following are helpful resources from the National Cyber Security Alliance:
Free Security Check-Ups: Many computer security vendors offer free computer security checks for your computer.
Check Your Privacy Settings: Want to view or change your privacy/security settings, but don't know where to find them? Here's how.
Parent Resources: Learn how to protect your family's privacy online and discuss sensitive topics like sexting and GPS tracking with your children
Educator Resources: Prepared educational materials for K-12 classrooms.
Business Resources: Informational resources for businesses regarding identity theft, fraud and more.
Privacy and Domestic Violence: For anyone recovering from sexual violence, stalking or intimate partner violence, the ability to control their privacy and personal information is essential to rebuilding their sense of security.
