The Winter 2015 Shpachenko & Friends Chamber Music festival will feature master classes and a recital with works from Beethoven and composer Harold Meltzer.
Martin Chalifour, a violinist and principal concertmaster with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and cellist Timothy Loo will teach a chamber music master class on Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon. Meltzer will teach a composition master class on Monday, March 2, from noon to 2 p.m. Both classes are free and will be held in the Music Recital Hall.
All three will join Nadia Shpachenko, an associate music professor and the festival organizer, in performing at a recital at 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, in the recital hall. The group will perform Beethoven's Sonata for Violin and Piano in G Major and Meltzer's Sindbad for Actor and Piano Trio. Meltzer will participate in the latter as the actor/narrator.
Recital tickets are $10 per student or $15 general admission. They are available at the Music Publicity Office or online at csupomona.tix.com.
