Horsehill Vineyards has released its latest wine, and it is available at the Farm Store at Kellogg Ranch and the Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch.

The 2013 Horsehill Pink, South Coast, marks a return to the off-dry rosé style that characterized the vineyard's inaugural wine. It blends red cultivars and captures the aromas of red fruit: cherry, strawberry and raspberry. It is an ideal accompaniment to spicy Southwestern cuisine.

Horsehill Pink is available for $7.50 per bottle at the Farm Store. The Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch serves it by the glass or bottle. The proceeds from sales of the wine go to support a sustainable culinary garden on campus that provides fresh vegetables and herbs for the student-managed and operated Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch.

Horsehill Vineyards is a partnership between the Collins College of Hospitality Management, the College of Agriculture and South Coast Winery. Among the other wines the vineyards have produced are the 2011 Kellogg Cuvée and the 2012 Rossana Sparkling Wine.

The on-campus vineyards are a living link to the Inland Empire's once booming wine industry.

Before the historic De Ambrogio Ranch in Rancho Cucamonga was torn down for development in 2001, third-generation vintner Don Galleano selected cuttings from the zinfandel vines there - some of which were nearly 100 years old - and donated them to the university.

The Horsehill Vineyards and the wine produced from them are the product of those cuttings.
