Cal Poly Pomona's Concrete Canoe team placed sixth overall in the annual ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition this year, up from last year's 12th place finish.

The team and its canoe, "Gidget," placed in the top five in the Design Paper and Women's Endurance categories.

Twenty-three universities competed by presenting their canoe designs and participating in various races at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
