Outstanding Staff for 2011

Victoria Key, Cassandra Reyes, Sandra Cain and German Reyes are the Outstanding Staff for 2011.

Staff Council honored four employees - Sandy Cain, Victoria Key, Cassandra Reyes and German Reyes - as Outstanding Staff for 2011. The staff members are awarded for exemplifying expertise, dedication and enthusiasm in their job performance, showing a willingness to assist, working well with others, and making university-wide contributions.

This year's award recipients were recognized at the 17th Annual Variety Show on Staff Appreciation Day on June 15.

Sandy Cain
Foundation Dining Services, Bronco Student Center
Years of Service: 6
Sandy Cain has worked for more than 20 years in the food business focusing on higher education. Her commitment to customer service fosters the success of dining services on campus. She emphasizes staff training, product quality, pricing and campus support for Foundation Dining Services. In addition, Cain has developed the greenopolois program on campus, which utilizes Dream Machines kiosks.

Victoria Key
Communication department, College of Letters, Arts & Social Sciences
Years of Service: 16
Victoria Key is the administrative support coordinator in the communication department. She works with the chair to run the department's day-to-day operations. She is very knowledgeable about the department's history and curriculum. In addition to her many tasks, Key maintains student internship files and relationships with alumni. She is also the building safety marshal for Building 1.

Cassandra Reyes
I&IT
Years of Service: 11
Cassandra Reyes has progressed from her first position at Cal Poly Pomona as a human resources customer service representative to PeopleSoft HR specialist to the assistant to the recruitment & retention coordinator in the College of Agriculture to her current position as executive assistant to the Chief Information Officer in I&IT. Reyes has worked as the campus cell phone coordinator and the assistant to the associate vice president of I&IT. She is currently the staff representative for the Foundation Board of Directors, personnel committee and program committee, and is the alternate building marshal for Building 98. Reyes has also volunteered for several division- and university-wide committees and has been involved in a variety of campus activities, including the art auction and commencement video crew.

German Reyes
HVAC, facilities management department
Years of Service: 9
German Reyes is a building service engineer for the facilities management department. He addresses all heating, ventilation and air conditioning problems in his assigned buildings, which total 1 million square feet. Even though he has 30 years of experience, he is continuously educating himself. Reyes treats each project as his first priority.
