A wide variety of wine, gourmet food and auction items will beckon the interest and taste buds of those who attend the Fourth Annual Southern California Tasting & Auction on Sunday, May 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the University Rose Garden and Aratani Japanese Garden.

This year, the event will include a variety of gourmet food trucks, including Barbie's Q - A Rollin' BBQ Joint, Calbi Fusion Tacos and Burritos, and Crepes Bonaparte, which was featured on the Food Network's "Great Food Truck Race."

Among the regional wineries participating are J. Lohr Vineyards, Martin Ray Winery and Barefoot Wine & Bubbly. Dales Bros. and Anheuser-Busch breweries are returning, and Hangar 24 Craft Brewery is making its first appearance.

Auction items include a week's stay at a five-star resort in Kona, Hawaii; dinner for eight with university President Michael Ortiz and his wife, Betty; and a study experience in Tuscany, Italy, with Cal Poly Pomona design students and faculty.

Tickets for the event are $90 per person. Those who purchase 10 tickets will receive an 11th for free. Those who wish to attend the Tasting & Auction can visit www.polytaste.com to register and purchase their tickets online. No one under the age of 21 will be admitted.

Proceeds from the Southern California Tasting & Auction fund scholarships and educational enrichment. Last year, the event raised about $184,000.
