Cal Poly Pomona's graduate business programs have once again been recognized as one of the nation's best by the Princeton Review.

Using results from student surveys, Princeton Review editors noted in its 2011 edition of the "Best 300 Business Schools" that the university's polytechnic approach to learning makes for a unique, more interactive, MBA experience. Students refer to it as a "hands on MBA" program where professors engage students with class discussions and group presentations. Through the course of the program, students receive solid preparation in general management and teamwork as well as communication, presentation and computer skills, the Princeton Review editors noted.

"The College of Business Administration provides a challenging curriculum that is relevant to the global marketplace," said CBA Dean Richard Lapidus. "It is heartening to know that our students already appreciate the value of their education and that the Princeton Review has taken note."

Student surveys were conducted during the 2009-10, 2008-09 and 2007-08 academic years. The surveys included 80 questions that ranged from academics to student body to campus life as well as students' career plans.

"We chose the 300 business schools in this book based on our high opinion of their academic programs and offerings, as well as our review of institutional data we collect from the schools," said Robert Franek, senior vice president of publishing at Princeton Review. "We also strongly consider the candid opinions of students attending the schools who rate and report on their campus experiences at their schools on our survey for the book."

Students surveyed were not only impressed with the caliber of the professors and learning materials but with their fellow students. Classmates have already made a mark in the business world by the time they enter the program and many work for Fortune 500 companies, respondents told the Princeton Review. The quality of students has "a significant impact on the class [because they] have plenty of experience to draw from," one student wrote.

CBA's graduate business programs offer diverse areas of study that cater to working professionals. Students have the option to pursue a general Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree or they can specialize in different career tracks such as marketing management, entrepreneurship and human resources. CBA also offers a unique Master of Science in Business Administration with an option in information systems auditing and a Master of Science in Accountancy.
