It's a College Fair - and a Mexican Rodeo

charreadaThe Latino Business Students' Association has organized a charreada and college fair from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 19 at the Industry Hills Expo.

The event at the 5,000-seat venue will include the competition and pageantry of the charreada, a rodeo tradition deeply rooted in Mexican culture, as well as traditional music, activities for children, and a bilingual college fair.

The goal of the event is to provide family entertainment while promoting the culture of college to the community. Representatives from several colleges and universities will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.

A donation from the Industry Manufacturers Council has helped defray costs and limit ticket prices to $5 for those 14 and older, with younger children admitted for free. Parking is $5.

Most of the competitors at the charreada are graduates, students or college-bound.
