The Cal Poly Pomona chapter of the American Marketing Association received top honors at the association's 32nd Annual International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans. Students Justin Rezvani and James Ruvalcaba placed fourth in the Northwestern Mutual Sales Competition, which required them to make a 7-minute sales presentation on any product of their choosing. The students devoted several hours to creating a script that would enable them to close a sale. Rezvani and Ruvalcaba chose to promote the Lifesaver bottle, a portable water filtration device and, for their efforts, the company behind Lifesaver donated a bottle for the competition, which costs more than $100.
The Cal Poly Pomona chapter also received an honorable mention for a video project done on behalf of the UNICEF Tap Project, a campaign that's committed to making water clean and accessible to children around the world. Student Desiree Duzich filmed and edited the 3-minute video. To watch the video, visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dkqOsbF3x4.
