President's Video Update for April 12

President Ortiz gives a video message on April 12, 2010.

In his weekly video message, President Ortiz talks about the Brown Bag with the Presidents event last week, when students expressed how budget cuts in Student Affairs would hurt them on a deep, personal level. Ortiz says that every division in the university is facing similar cuts because of the lack of state support.

An easy, magic fix to the budget challenges doesn't exist, Ortiz says. He says the entire campus community should come together to advocate for higher education, because greater support for higher education in Sacramento can only come from a united front of educators, students, parents, and civic and industry leaders.
