[Updated April 13] The high-voltage breaker in Building 8 was repaired late Monday evening. All classes will resume on Tuesday, April 13.

[April 12] Due to a failed high-voltage breaker, all classes held in Building 8 (College of Science) have been canceled for Monday, April 12, though the building and department offices will remain open. Classes in Building 8 are expected to resume Tuesday.

The breaker, which is more than 30 years old, failed around 6 a.m. Facilities staff are working on repairs.

The failed breaker supplied power to the elevators and overhead lights in the hallways, classrooms, offices and labs. Emergency lighting is available in the corridors. The heating and ventilation system, as well as the plug-in wall outlets continue to function as they are powered by a separate circuit breaker.

Announcements will be posted on PolyCentric as it becomes available, and students will also receive email updates.
