Animal Health Science Professor Named to State Board Committee

Oscar Chavez, animal health science faculty member

Oscar E. Chavez, assistant professor in animal health science, has been appointed to the Registered Veterinary Technician Committee, which reports directly to the California Veterinary Board. The committee, which is composed of five members, helps to ensure standards for veterinary technicians, which may include licensing, regulating and legislation. Chavez's two-year term begins in June and he is eligible to serve up to eight years.

"I welcome the opportunity and challenge, and realize the board has made a significant investment in my young career," Chavez says. "I am humbled and excited, and look forward to representing RVTs and our profession confidently for the duration of my term."
