Business Fraternity Wins 4 National Chapter Collegiate Awards

College of Business Administration Building (6)Cal Poly Pomona's coed business fraternity has received national recognition for its alumni relations, community service, and travel and chapter operations.

"We are honored to receive these awards," says Matthew Martin, president of Cal Poly Pomona's Delta Sigma Pi chapter.

These accolades go to chapters that exemplify community/campus leadership and leave a lasting impression with the national organization.

"As one of the oldest chapters in the western region, we facilitate
networking between alumni and students, provide hands-on experience and
make an impact by participating in community projects," Martin says.
The chapter maintains contact with more than 300 alumni via a
mentorship program and alumni-centered website.

The chapter also participated in more than a dozen community service
events during the 2008-09 school year, ranging from working as Rose
Float volunteers to donating food and clothing to wildfire evacuees to
participating in the Orange County Heart Walk.

The chapter also sent 38 members to the national conference in
Washington, D.C., far more than the average, earning it the "most
traveled" award.

Martin said he expects more of the same this academic year.
