Ambassador Program

Are you looking for volunteer opportunities during AY 2024-25 within our Student Innovation Idea Lab (SIIL or iLab)? Please check out the expectations and benefits below and click the link to apply before the deadline of August 20, 2024.

As a SIIL Ambassador, you will have the opportunity to volunteer in the Maker Studio or iLab (occasionally Innovation Orchard, off campus) and ensure that these spaces support the creative vision of Cal Poly Pomona students and help foster the Maker Community and broadly an entrepreneur ecosystem.

Expectations and Requirements

  • Interest in assisting SIIL staffs and student lab technicians to create a customer service driven and user-friendly environment
  • Willingness to volunteer at the Maker Studio and iLab spaces by taking shifts for routine operation and maintenance
  • Willingness to learn the maker machines and equipment within the space(s) (3D Printing, Laser Cutter, Vinyl Cutter, Sewing Machine, etc.)
  • Adequate professionalism including customer-service mindset and proficient communication skills (or showing with the potential to improve them)

Duties

  • Support the SIIL spaces in their efforts to encourage creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship
  • Support the SIIL staff and student lab technicians on equipment maintenance and supplies inventory management
  • Watch and care for the space(s) when on duty during designated times (1-4 hours per week)
  • Assist students/visitors with questions or provide advice when needed
  • If willing, provide more specific assistance to students/visitors with equipment and project ideas
  • Collaborate with the SIIL staff in hosting events and/or engage in activities to support the mission of the Student Innovation Idea Labs (SIIL)
