Student Recruitment
Cal Poly Pomona continues to redefine learning in an age of monumental change by promoting an innovative “learn-by-doing” ethos that is grounded in elements that only a polytechnic education can deliver.
The university offers an immersive and meaningful multi-disciplinary approach that makes students career-qualified and life-ready. Cutting-edge programs, imaginative courses and inspired methodologies help students discover and transform themselves.
At Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M), people are our greatest asset. The “can-do” spirit permeates every department. The hiring pipeline shepherds students from part-time workers to become full-time colleagues. From working in the HVAC Shop to the Customer Service Desk, students constantly learn by doing.
FP&M is committed to engage and include people from different local and global cultures. Our Core Values include Diverse and Inclusive, and we take an active role in creating a culturally rich environment at Cal Poly Pomona’s campus.
More than 1,000 Broncos are employed across campus in a variety of positions. While each on-campus position provides a unique experience, there are many benefits for students working in on-campus jobs.
The polytechnic approach provides students with the opportunity to gain work experience and develop career ready skills while also enhancing resumes and job portfolios.
FP&M can design a work schedule around classes and offer competitive hourly wages.
Handshake is a self-post, self-referred online job bank and event management system that is provided to students and employers. This is Cal Poly Pomona’s only method of posting job and internship opportunities.
The campus does not permit posting of job announcements outside of Handshake. The Career Center has implemented these guidelines to create a professional environment where students, alumni and employers can interact.
For a list of current open positions, go to Handshake and look for Facilities Planning & Management at Cal Poly Pomona. To apply for a job, fill out an application and upload a cover letter and resume.

Federal Work Study (FWS) is a need-based federal aid program that gives students the opportunity to earn money through part-time employment on campus or in limited positions in the community.
The intent of the program is to assist students with paying for educational expenses. FWS jobs are available during the fall and spring semesters to undergraduate, credential and graduate students who meet federal and institutional eligibility requirements.
The program pays a portion of wages, so this subsidy makes students who are eligible for work-study jobs attractive to employers. Students who are eligible for Federal Work Study will see an amount included in the financial aid package/financial aid award summary.
Searching for a position is easy. Go to the Career Center website and log in to Handshake. Look for Facilities Planning & Management at Cal Poly Pomona to review the job listings for Federal Work Study. Follow the application directions and upload a cover letter and resume.
