Advisory Meetings

Date: November 8, 2017

Location: CLA - Heritage Room

Information: The Campus Master Plan Advisory Committee held its first meeting with consulting firm Ayers Saint Gross. A review of the proposed planning process and a timeline for completion of the master plan were offered at the session. A discussion about the roles of the Advisory Committee and the Executive Committee augmented the meeting. Findings and input from the introductory workshop at Fall Conference, and the confluence of the strategic, academic and physical master plans rounded out the topics of discussion.

Location: BSC - Lyra Room

Information: The Campus Master Plan Advisory Committee received an update on the use of classroom and open space on campus; landscaping; circulation systems that involve pedestrians, drivers, bicyclists, public transportation; parking on campus; and sustainability. Ayers Saint Gross also examined findings that were derived from the first open workshop on November 9, 2017.

Location: BSC – Lyra Room

Information: Consulting firm Ayers Saint Gross gave the Campus Master Plan Advisory Committee an update on the space usage analysis of the university. The committee was briefed on feedback obtained during stakeholder meetings in January with Associated Students Inc., university housing, Bronco athletics, health services and other student groups.

Time: 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Location: BSC – Ursa Major B

Information: Members of the Campus Master Plan Advisory Committee participated in a charrette session with consulting firm Ayers Saint Gross to examine three alternative concepts for the overall master plan. The concepts ranged in scope from incremental improvements to major projects for the campus. Preferred elements from the plans were identified and used to build a conceptual framework of a potential master plan. The session also identified areas for further study and issues that have yet to be addressed.

Location: BSC – Centaurus Room

Information: Members of the Transportation Advisory Committee received a briefing from consulting firm Ayers Saint Gross on feedback collected from a sustainability open forum that attracted more than 60 participants from a diverse colleges and campus groups. Concepts to enhance mobility on campus were presented and discussed.

Information: Consulting firm Ayers Saint Gross delivered an update on transportation issues to the Campus Master Plan Advisory Committee and members of the Transportation Advisory Committee. At the session, Ayers Saint Gross also discussed its meeting in June with community partners that included representatives of Los Angeles County, Pomona and neighboring cities, local elected representatives, planning officials, and local and regional transit agencies.

Location: Multi-Purpose Room, Student Services Building 

Information: Feedback from a student forum on space usage in the Bronco Student Center and outdoor seating across the campus formed the crux of an update given to the Campus Master Plan Advisory Committee. Consulting firm Ayers Saint Gross detailed the next steps in forming a draft Campus Master Plan and offered a tentative schedule of upcoming workshops.

Date: January 24, 2019

Time: Noon-1:30 p.m. 

Location: Conference Room C, Building 81

Information: Members of the Transportation Advisory Committee received updates on the latest measures to address challenging transportation and parking issues facing the campus, including the possible construction of additional parking structures, creation of a bike corridor through the heard of campus and the promotion of alternative modes of transportation. A Metro Rail substation near the university also is in the works.

Time: 9 a.m.-11 a.m. 

Location: West Multipurpose Room #1969, Student Services Building

Information: The Provost's Council, which consists of college deans, received an update on the Campus Master Plan from consulting firm Ayers Saint Gross. Among the issues addressed were the Master Plan timeline, transportation and parking, pedestrian and bike corridors, and space utilization in the Bronco Student Center. Ayers Saint Gross offered findings in a campus space utilization analysis in a second presentation.

Location: West Multipurpose Room #1969, Student Services Building

Information: Campus Master Plan from consulting firm Ayers Saint Gross briefed the University Leadership Council, which is composed of college deans and a core group of campus administrators, on the current phase of the process. Topics addressed included the Master Plan timeline, campus pedestrian environment, transportation and parking issues, campus space utilization, academic hubs, and the future of the CLA tower.

Location: West Multipurpose Room #1967, Student Services Building

Information: Consulting firm Ayers Saint Gross held its final workshop with the Campus Master Plan Advisory Committee, addressing topics and issues raised since the process began in fall 2017. Ayers Saint Gross addressed the challenges of setting priorities and making decisions about capital improvement projects, such as understanding the condition of campus facilities and examining whether a building can be efficiently renovated and upgraded or should be replaced. The foundation of a draft Master Plan will be laid during the summer.
