Fall Conference marks the start of a new academic year at Cal Poly Pomona, beginning with coffee hour and Convocation at Kellogg Arena on Monday, August 19. All-college and all-division meetings are scheduled throughout the week. More events and meetings will be added to the schedule as details become available.

The Empathy Café: Building Skills to Support Community Building and Conflict Engagement (Bronco Student Center, Lyra)
Participants will delve into the crucial skills of active listening and asking powerful questions to build stronger communities and identify options for navigating conflicts they encounter on campus and in life. The workshop will be facilitated by Andrew Larratt-Smith, J.D., the University Ombuds at UC Riverside. Learn more on the Ombuds website. -
Leveraging AI to Develop a Career Ecosystem that Prepares Our Students for Their Future Careers and Professional Endeavors (Bronco Student Center, Orion)
CPP Future Career Path initiative aims to develop a career ecosystem that prepares our students for the future of work, human and civic engagement by embedding career and professional readiness in curricular and cocurricular experiences to prepare them for a variety of dynamic and rapidly changing professional endeavors. This initiative also collaborates with alumni and industry and community partners so students can obtain professional and career experiences and contribute to critical organizational decisions. This workshop will focus on the initiative and how we are using artificial intelligence to support the career and professional readiness of our students. -
Student Engagement With and Experiences of Chatbot Communication: An Update on the Billy Chat Study (Bronco Student Center, Andromeda)
Since 2019, the Office of Student Success has leveraged Billy Chat, our artificial intelligence text-messaging robot, to communicate with undergraduate students and support them through different milestones in their academic career. As part of a College Futures-funded study, we have partnered with Brown, Harvard and Stanford universities to explore how bots can engage students in their academic careers and cultivate a sense of belonging. Join the Office of Student Success and colleagues from Brown, Harvard and Stanford to learn more about the tool, its goals and preliminary findings from the study.
