About Me

Dr. Siddharth Banerjee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (CPP). He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University (NCSU) and specializes in construction engineering, data analytics, and the application of statistical models to enhance construction processes. His research focuses on utilizing data-driven approaches to optimize construction project performance and address industry challenges, including the impacts of global disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Banerjee's expertise lies at the intersection of civil engineering, statistics, and data science. He is committed to advancing the field by developing innovative solutions to improve project management, decision-making, and operational efficiency in construction. Prior to joining CPP, he played a key role in the development of the North Carolina Department of Transportation's CLEAR program, which is aimed at improving project performance across various construction projects. His work in construction data analytics, statistical modeling, and project optimization continues to influence both academic research and industry practices.

In addition to his research contributions, Dr. Banerjee is dedicated to mentoring students and preparing them for the challenges of the evolving construction industry. He fosters a collaborative learning environment where students can develop the analytical skills needed to drive improvements in construction practices.

Teaching

Dr. Siddharth Banerjee's teaching philosophy revolves around creating "lightbulb moments" where students experience moments of enlightenment as they grasp new concepts. Dr. Banerjee incorporates various active learning strategies to enhance in-class engagement, complementing them with hands-on approaches that align with Cal Poly Pomona's "Learn by Doing" philosophy. As an instructor, he has taught courses in construction engineering and management to both undergraduate and graduate students. Research

Dr. Banerjee's research interests and expertise focus primarily on using human-computer interactions to improve construction workflow processes, with the ultimate goal of enhancing organizational resilience and promoting sustainable projects. His research broadly explores how artificial intelligence can enhance communication among project teams and improve project risk management. Dr. Banerjee aims to advance the application of digital construction techniques, emphasizing automation to promote organizational resilience and sustainability within the construction industry.

The selection of the residents and the work experience enables them to enrich their classroom instruction and research capabilities.

ASCE ExCEEd Teaching Workshop Scholarship (2024). The ExCEEd Teaching Workshop is a 6-day practicum that provides engineering educators with an opportunity to improve their teaching abilities. Only about 24 such educators are selected through a highly competitive process each year.
