About Me
I retired as Department Chair of Animal & Veterinary Sciences and Director of Animal Sciences Farm in May 2024 and embarked on the Faculty Early Retirement Program (FERP), and teach in Fall Semesters only, starting in Fall 2024. I was Director - Center for Antimicrobial Research and Food Safety (CARFS)[2007-2024], which was one of the 14 surviving Centers of Excellence at Cal Poly Pomona. I specialized in teaching Biotechnology Applications in Animal Science, and Meat Science & Industry classes. I am an Animal Scientist, Food Scientist (Microbiology, Safety, Chemistry & Processing) and Biotechnologist. I trained lived and/or worked on three continents (Africa, Europe and North America), and have well-rounded expertise in research, teaching, agricultural extension and outreach. I have extensive experiences teaching at university and supervising research with students, technicians, and post-doctoral associates. I possess practical expertise and experience in both laboratory-based and on-farm-based research.
