Ronnell Hampton is a professor in the College of Environmental Design, Landscape Architecture and has over 15 years of Policy and DEIJ experience. He is the Principal Equity Strategist for the LA Civil Rights Department with the City of Los Angeles and the Owner of Growing Greatness Now, a Policy & Urban Design Consulting Firm. Ronnell's work focuses on developing processes and frameworks in policy and urban design that achieve equity in practice and outcomes.
Since Ronnell founded Growing Greatness Now in 2017, It has grown from a one-person operation to a team of ten staff and interns. In 5 years, Growing Greatness Now has completed 15 Urban Beautification Projects, 24+ DEIJ & Conflict Management Trainings, and achieved over $16 Billion in State legislative advocacy wins for Child Support and Criminal Justice Fines & Fees.
Ronnell is also responsible for building the 5-year Action plan and writing the report for establishing the Office of Racial Equity Action Plan for the City of LA while developing programs like LA REPAIR's Peace & Healing Centers, Participatory Budgeting, and RENEW. These initiatives are distributing more than $10 Million in community-directed dollars to the most impacted areas of Los Angeles experiencing homelessness, economic insecurity, the digital divide, food insecurity, and COVID-19 disparities. His programs reach over 1.5 million Angelenos, thousands of Community-Based Organizations, and small businesses.
Ronnell holds a Master in Urban Sustainability from Antioch University, a Bachelor in Negotiation Conflict Resolution & Peace-building from CSU Dominguez Hills, an Associate in Architecture Drafting & Design from Long Beach City College, and a Certification in Workplace Equity from Harvard University, Cambridge.
Ronnell is a member of the American Planning Association, National Organization for Minority Architects, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
