About Me

Dr. Rachel Baumsteiger is an assistant professor in the psychology department at Cal Poly Pomona. Before coming to CPP, Dr. Baumsteiger earned a B.A. from the University of South Florida, earned an M.A. and Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate University, worked as a postdoctoral associated and then associate research scientist and the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, and worked as a lecturer at CPP, CSUN, CSULA, Chaffey College, Harvey Mudd College, and the University of Connecticut. Dr. Baumsteiger is currently directing the Prosociality and Well-being Lab, which focuses on understanding and promoting prosocial (helping) behavior and psychological well-being, especially among adolescents and young adults. Dr. Baumsteiger teaches courses in developmental psychology, positive psychology, and moral psychology, as well as courses in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
