Dr. Miranda Aiken is a soil biogeochemist and educator at CPP. Her research investigates how toxic metals move in soils and threaten human health. This research takes place on different scales including the large-scale prevalence of manganese in California drinking water systems, to the microscale movement of arsenic in California mine tailings.
She teaches Basic Soil Science (PLT2210 and PLT2210L) and Soil Fertility and Fertilizers (PLT3320 and PLT3320L).
Outside of work, Miranda enjoys sewing, thrifting, taking walks through her neighborhood, and cooking good food!
