About Me


Keiji Uesugi is an assistant professor in the Landscape Architecture Department. He is a licensed landscape architect with over 20 years of experience with his own professional practice.
He is an expert in cultural landscapes and Japanese gardens of North America. As part of the faculty at Cal Poly Pomona University, Keiji has taught undergraduate and graduate courses including design, construction, history of Asian gardens, and ethnic studies.
Keiji fosters cultural enrichment in the community as the director for the Japanese drumming music ensemble Yoki Daiko at the Tenrikyo Church in Boyle Heights, CA. He also performs Japanese court music Gagaku, which has over 2000 years of music history.
