About Me

Katrin Terstegen is principal of Los Angeles based design studio KATRINTERSTEGEN, a registered architect in California, and Associate Professor in the Architecture Department at California Polytechnic State University, Pomona. She has taught at the Technical University Berlin, the University of Auckland in New Zealand, and the University of California in Los Angeles, served as juror on reviews at numerous international universities, and has lectured internationally on her work. She served on the board of directors of the non-profit organization Los Angeles Forum for Architecture and Urban Design, where she was President in 2019.

Prior to establishing her firm, she worked at Johnston Marklee for ten years, at Pugh+Scarpa (now Brook+Scarpa) in Los Angeles, and at firms in Paris and Amsterdam. Terstegen holds architecture degrees from the Technical University Berlin and the University of Westminster in London and also studied architecture at the ETSAB in Barcelona. In her research and teaching, she examines architectural typology and the language of materials and construction. At Cal Poly Pomona, she currently teaches Second Year Studio, Senior Projects, and Professional Electives.
