Professor Dickson is a tenured professor and has been teaching at Pomona for the past 28 years. He has an undergraduate Bachelor of Architecture from Cal Poly in 1983 and a Master of Architecture II from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
Kip Dickson teaches in the areas of pre-design, and professional practice, professional ethics and principally in design. He has been the Graduate Coordinator for the Department for the past 10 years. He has 30 years of professional design, management and construction experience in the design of institutional buildings, mixed use developments and custom residential projects. He has a significant history in the design and planning of educational facilities. His professional experience has covered leadership roles in large corporate offices including Dworsky Associates and Perkins & Will. He maintains a private practice DeVA deVeer Dickson Architecture Inc. based in Pasadena CA. The design-build practice has been recognized with honor and merit awards by the American Institute of Architects for both institutional and residential design.
In addition, Kip is currently an active member in AGD American General Design. AGD is s full service Development, Design and Construction organization that develops and builds mixed use transit orientated developments in southern California. This practice feeds his interest in alternate means of project delivery thought in Professional Practice.
Professor Dickson is registered in California and has served as a commissioner to the California Architects Board. Currently he serves as the coordinator for the Cavin Family Traveling Fellowship that awards $10,000 annually to alumni for travel.
