Dr. Javad Seif started working at Cal Poly Pomona as an Assistant Professor in the Industrial and Manufacturing Engineeirng Department in 2019. He holds three degrees in industrial engineering (B.S. with a concentration in manufacturing from the University of Tabriz, M.S. form the University of Tehran, and Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville) and a graduate certificate in reliability and maintainability engineering from the University of Tennessee. Prior to his graduate studies, Dr. Seif worked in industry for several years designing, developing, and implementing industrial information systems for various service and manufacturing companies. During his Ph.D., he worked as a research assistant at the University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI) in Tullahoma, and after that he worked as a research associate (post-doc) at the Reliability and Maintainability Center (RMC) in Knoxville, TN. His main research interests are within the broad fields of operations research and data science applied to problems in quality and reliability engineering, maintenance management, production scheduling, flight and maintenance planning, physical asset management, and fleet replacement.
