About

César M. Larriva, Ph. D., is an associate professor in the education department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. His research and program development efforts focus on improving classroom learning of mathematics. Dr. Larriva has been a bilingual high school mathematics teacher, and has developed elementary- and secondary-mathematics teachers in university teacher preparation programs for nearly 2 decades. He also has taught graduate courses in mathematics curriculum, project-based learning, and curriculum for multilingual and multicultural settings. Dr. Larriva is the founder and director of the School Robotics Initiative, an outreach and research project that served local communities for 11 years with the goal of raising student achievement in math. Dr. Larriva holds a Ph.D. in education from Stanford University, as well as a B.S. in engineering and a Master of Education degree from UCLA.
