Carlos Flores is an Outdoor Recreation Planner with the National Park Service, where he provides technical assistance to community groups, non-profit organizations and public agencies in support of their outdoor recreation and conservation projects. He enjoys communicating planning and design ideas visually to diverse audiences of design professionals and the public. Prior to entering the public service, he worked for over 7 years in private design/build firms and a retail nursery, focusing on site layout and planting design of residential gardens in Guadalajara, Mexico, and in Southern California, as well plants purchasing and sales. He is a lecturer of Visual Communication at Cal Poly Pomona.
Carlos is an active member and Southern California Chapter President of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). There, he enjoys providing mentorship to students of landscape architecture, as well as advocating for native gardens, green infrastructure, urban public space, access to recreation opportunities, and conservation. And he has been a volunteer and instructor for over 10 years at Theodore Payne Foundation for Wildflowers and Native Plants.
