A team of three mechanical engineering students, Sean Fergus, Mustafa Guner, and Kevin Le, won 3rd place in the HVAC Design Calculations category of the 2022 Student Design Competition, organized by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). This international competition focused on designing a new building on a college campus in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The HVAC system design was judged on several characteristics including life cycle cost, environmental impact, comfort, and health. Professor Kevin Anderson was the team's faculty advisor, and the students were mentored by several local air conditioning and building construction consulting firms. The students will travel to Atlanta in February 2023 to receive their awards.
