Mechanical Engineering Clubs & Organizations

Many student clubs and organizations are active in the Mechanical Engineering department at Cal Poly Pomona. These include ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers), SAE (The Society Of Automotive Engineers), Pi Tau Sigma (the Mechanical Engineering honor society), and the Robotics Club.

Clubs participate in design competitions, host guest speakers, assist with job placement, provide tutoring, offer services to the department, and provide for the social and recreational needs of Mechanical Engineering students.

Activities of clubs and organizations can be found at bulletin board outside the ME department office (17-2353), or just stop by one of their regular meetings.

Formula SAE

Advisors: Carlos Castro, Brian J. Ramirez

Formula SAE are student run teams that offer the opportunity to design, build, and compete formula-style racing cars using either an internal combustion or electric powertrain. Each team works over several months to create vehicles that are tested in various events, from technical design and business to high-performance challenges. As a member, you’ll gain valuable skills in project management, collaboration, and technical problem-solving while working alongside like-minded individuals. Gain hands-on experience, connect with industry professionals, and contribute to building cutting-edge race cars. This program is open to any student from all majors.
