Horse Camp
A horse! a horse! my kingdom for a horse!
The Discovery Camps are excited to have back the W. K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center and its Horse Camps!!
The W. K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center is a showcase facility that houses approximately 70 purebred Arabian horses used in teaching, research, and breeding. The Center includes 38 acres of irrigated pasture, four barns for stabling horses, foaling stalls with an observation room, a breeding barn, a veterinary sciences laboratory, an arena, a farrier shop, and research facilities.
Children ages 7-12 will have a galloping good time during our 5-day camp. Campers are paired two to one horse. Not just a horse-riding camp, the camp instructors guide campers through a curriculum comprised of basic equitation, horsemanship, grooming, tacking, nutrition, anatomy and humane education. Campers get to work arts & crafts centered on the horse, but are also required to perform chores. These chores include cleaning tack (horse accessories), feeding, boarding and maintenance of the stables. Our horse camp is sure to provide the camper with an unforgettable experience that result in unforgettable memories.
For questions about registration or waiting lists, please contact the Discovery camps at discovery@cpp.edu. For camp or horse questions, contact the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center at arabianhorse@cpp.edu or 909-869-4988.

What To Bring
For your camper to have the best experience at the Horse Camp, it is important that s/he receive a good night’s sleep. It is also extremely important that your camper have a hearty meal for breakfast in order to participate in camp activities in a spirited and lively manner. We want your child to gain the most out of their journey into camp activities, horses and fun!
We recommend that campers dress in comfortable clothing that takes into account the high temperatures of summer in the Pomona area. Please insure that your camper arrives with the following:
- Please make sure your child is wearing jeans and boots with a small heel ( NOT tennis shoes)
- Helmets will be provided. If your child has an equestrian helmet we would appreciate it if they could bring their own.
- Refillable Water Bottle
- Besides the attire, we ask that your child also bring sunscreen.
Lunch
Cal Poly Pomona has an amazing, new dining commons! Lunch meals are provided by the Center Pointe Dining Common , which serves our student population year-round. Whether your camper is vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose intolerant or simply wants a healthy, balanced diet, Center Pointe will fulfill her/his needs with many tasty options. Registration forms contain areas to identify special dietary needs.
No Extended Care due to Arabian Horse maintenance
The Horse Camp staff understands the challenges of meeting a 9am drop-off and 4pm pick-up schedule. However, our camp counselors have the responsibility to care and maintain for the horses after a long and hot day's work. Because of their effort to safekeep the horses and to attend to the horse's needs, our counselors are not able to care for campers beyond camp hours. We, therefore, require that all campers be dropped off at 8:45am and picked up by 4:15pm.
