Dr. Sungsik Yoon and Dr. Li Ge Recognized as 2020 and 2021 Outstanding Faculty Advisor

With the help of students and faculty, the selection committee presented the honor of 2019-2020 Outstanding Faculty Advisor to Assistant Professor Sungsik Yoon and 2020-2021 Outstanding Faculty Advisor to Assistant Professor Li Ge.
As the 2019-2020 Outstand Faculty Advisor, Yoon was recognized for the resources he provided to his students. His research findings and experience gave students insight into the industry as he helped. them stay on track with their academic plans.
“I have received tremendous advice from him. He was honest and informative about my current situation. He understood and recognized my weakness and elicited my potential. He pushed and made me realize the skills that I did not even recognize,” said one hospitality student.
Yoon joined The Collins College in fall 2017, and his major teaching areas include accounting and financial management. He holds a B.S. in Tourism Management from Kyonggi University in Seoul, Korea; M.S. in Hospitality Business from Michigan State University; and a Ph.D. in Hospitality Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
As for this academic year’s Outstanding Faculty Advisor, Ge swiftly adapted to remote instruction and fulfilling the needs of her students. She is known for demonstrating compassion when assisting students in their academic and career goals.
“Dr. Ge has amazing characteristics and has devoted a lot of her time advising and directing me in my time here at Collins College,” said one student. “She is always willing to share her knowledge and has set such a positive attitude as a role model in assisting me with her practical and thorough solutions to all my needs and opportunities to grow professionally.”
Ge joined The Collins College full-time faculty member in Fall 2018 and her expertise is in foodservice purchasing, inventory management, back-of-the-house operation, dining room operation, and management. She holds a B.S. in Engineering from Southwest University in China, and M.S. in Science and Ph.D. in Philosophy from Perdue University’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management.
Along with the achievements of the outstanding faculty advisors, Ge, Assistant Professor E'Lisha Fogle and Career Services Coordinator Ann Lara were presented with a Faculty Advisor Certificate this academic year.
