Society of Wine Educators (SWE)
CCHM Students are offered a discounted group rate on study guides and exams for SWE certifications. CSS and CSW Exams are now available worldwide through Pearson Testing Centers. SWE offers several opportunities in on-line academies, a mobile app, and SWEbinars to assist in preparing for one of the following programs:

Court of Master Sommeliers
The Collins College is the only college in Southern California to offer Level One and Level Two Certification tests with The Court of Master Sommeliers.

Students or Collins alumni interested in taking this course should contact Collins@cpp.edu.

The Level I: Introductory Sommelier Course & Exam is the first of four required steps to become a Master Sommelier. The program is given over a two-day period with candidates receiving intensive review, instruction and training by a team of Master Sommeliers on wines and spirits knowledge, proper wine service, and blind tasting. The program ends on the second day with the Introductory Sommelier Exam, a multiple choice theory exam consisting of 70 questions. The intent of the Introductory Sommelier Course is to provide wine and hospitality professionals with a thorough review to the world of wines and spirits at the highest professional standards.

This course is designed for people who have previous service experience including wine and/or have taken HRT 315/316 course(s). This course is not designed for people with little to no experience in wine or wine service.

Attendees must have an affiliation to Cal Poly Pomona. This means CCHM students and alumni as well as CPP students who have taken the beverage courses, HRT 312, HRT 315, and/or HRT 316.

ServSafeAlcohol

Students may pursue the ServSafe alcohol certification online. See servsafe.com/alcohol/training-and-certification. CCHM's Association of Beverage Professionals (ABP) will offer a 4-hour training and exam by request. A minimum number of 12 students must agree to date and time for training and exam to be conducted.

Associate Support

The college serves as a strategic partner for hospitality associations, such as the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF), California Restaurant Association (CRA), and Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) by providing educational support. This support includes curriculum development, course development, seminars and workshops.
