Research Statement

Cody Kuhn’s primary research centers on the interactions of federalist institutions and Constitutional law in the US context, particularly regarding discrimination and civil rights and liberties. Their work is multi-method, involving both qualitative analyses like interviews, survey data, and critical textual analysis, and quantitative analyses, e.g. using advanced statistical modeling to estimate the effects of policy (both output and on other governments). On the side, Cody is passionate about the connections between humanities (especially games, theater, literature, and film) and "hard" sciences (STEM). His current work is centered on the impacts of local government policy on other institutions (e.g., state governments and courts). Cody’s research agenda is centered on both the production of public knowledge and the inclusion and development of student expertise and research talent.
