Interview with Justin Yee

My name is Justin Yee and I am a 4th year Technology and Operations Management student and participated in OMS as the membership coordinator during Spring of 2022.
My plan following graduation is to continue working for the company I currently intern for to gain more experience and knowledge in the operations field. However, if this option isn’t available following graduation, I will begin the job hunt.
My career interests align in the future of sustainability and technology. The specific industry I would love to gain experience in is the electric vehicle industry. I believe by contributing to companies that aid the environment and society, the transition towards a eco friendly earth is much more obtainable. I have a passion towards anything electric, having the opportunity to apply this interest would be fulfilling.
Currently, I am working as an operations support intern for Yusen Logistics in Long Beach California. I help facilitate operations in the procurement team, auditing price change invoices for warehouse materials and explore opportunities to save capital with different warehouse vendors. So far my experience has been amazing, I’ve learned so much in such little time. I am excited to work on future projects within my team and the company.
Advice
My advice to other students is to participate in clubs related to your major or field such as OMS. These clubs have numerous networking opportunities throughout the year which can lead to potential connections or interviews. Lastly, do not give up during the application process, my current internship was the only interview out of three I received from the numerous applications I sent.
