Interview with Jasmine Meza
April 2021
Graduating class of 2019 from the TOM/EBZ department at Cal Poly Pomona with a degree in Technology and Operations Management, emphasis in Supply Chain Management. During my time in the TOM department I was an active participant in OMS! I enjoyed touring many great companies such as Amazon, Target, etc. participating in intramurals, listening to speakers at U-Hour, and donating my time to nonprofit organizations.
I began my career working at UPS as a Feeder Fleet Analyst. Where I worked on managing safety regulations and other modes of transportation of over 1,000+ truck drivers on the DOT system. After graduation I had the opportunity to work at Vyaire Medical, as a Supply Chain Operations Analyst. I focused on continuous improvement projects affecting multiple departments such as Warehousing, Manufacturing and Factory Service & Repair.
Once COVID-19 hit in China and rapidly spread throughout the world, it created an opportunity for me to step into my current role as a Manufacturing Engineer. As we are one of the top manufacturers in the world for ventilation. It came to my responsibility to lead a team to ramp up output per month on certain manufacturing lines. Where I focused on qualifications on test fixtures, workstations, analyzing data on low yields, improving efficiencies on sub- assembly station, implementing kaizens to improve process flow and lastly understanding the urgency to release product and more items that were needed to support through COVID-19 pandemic.
I am always appreciative of every opportunity that has been presented to me in my career, working in manufacturing through the COVID-19 has gave me the experience of a lifetime. As there is an endless amount of learning that I am a part of every day.
