Maximizing Engineering Potential (MEP)
About Us
The MEP program is the Center for Gender, Diversity & Student Excellence that offers academic, professional, and leadership opportunities to students, including our undocumented students. The program is open to all students in the College of Engineering.
MEP Services
Please note that some of the services offered from the program are open to all students and are NOT REQUIRED to be enrolled to the program or a member of the program's affiliate group.
- Coaching
- Workshops
- MEP Tutoring (Available here)
- Technology Assisted Supplemental Instruction (TASI, Available here)
Prospective Students
Only engineering students who are entering Cal Poly Pomona as a freshman or transfer student are eligible to apply for membership. Invitations to apply are released in the Spring before the academic year begins. For more information on the requirements and eligibility for the program, please click here.
NOTE: This is the only time students may join the program, HOWEVER, if you already began the academic year at CPP and have not joined the program, but would like to receive some of its benefits/services, students may join the MEP Affiliates group. MEP Affiliates is open to students of any major, but has a focus on engineering majors. Read below for more information on how to join the affiliate group.
Current Students
Current students can join and get announcements from MEP by joining MEP’s affiliate group. By joining this group students will get priority access to the following services:
- Personal and professional development workshops
- Peer mentoring (limited basis)
- Engineering Industry Tours & Fieldtrips (limited basis)
- Announcements of Scholarships (some scholarships designated as MEP-only Scholarships are only available to MEP members)
- Special opportunities (such as graduate school exploration workshops)
In order to join MEP’s affiliate group, students must meet in-person with Scott Chang, MEP’s Academic Retention Coordinator. Scott Chang’s office is located in building 9 room 163, and students are welcome to stop by at any time. Mr. Chang is a DREAMer ally who is open to helping undocumented students academically and professionally. Any questions or concerns regarding the program may be directed to his email at swchang@cpp.edu.
