AHIMSA CENTER NONVIOLENCE IN THOUGHT AND ACTION

Everett Elias (History 2024) and Jenaveve Gregory (Anthropology 2024), candidates for Interdisciplinary Minor in Nonviolence Studies, represented our work in human rights and political nonviolence at the Oxford Consortium for Human Rights held at Sonoma State University in January 2024.

The Interdisciplinary Minor in Nonviolence Studies provides students an opportunity to learn about philosophical, cultural and literary traditions of nonviolence and the histories of nonviolent change. The minor imparts a systematic understanding of nonviolence as a core human virtue, a positive force that is grounded in courage, compassion and conciliation, and is key to creating a peaceful and sustainable future for humanity.

The Interdisciplinary Minor continues to grow at a remarkable pace, with four students scheduled to graduate and four new candidates for the Minor incoming in 2024-25.
