Step 3: Meet with an Advisor

Now that you know what the requirements are for changing your major, you’ll want to visit your academic advisor to talk about your degree planning. Here are some things to keep in mind: 

• Bring a list of questions with you. You may want to ask what courses you’re allowed to take without being in the major, or how the classes you took before might count for your new major.
• Know how close you are to registering for a new term. If there are any courses you can start taking in the degree, you might want to register for them. You can check the Academic Calendar or Registration Guide for more information about upcoming registration periods.
