Where do my fees go?
The facilities, programs, and services supported by auxiliary fees are non-state funded and would not exist without the students’ funding.
ASI Facilities and Operations Fee
This fee pays ongoing bond payments on both the Bronco Student Center (BSC) and Bronco Recreation & Intramural Complex (BRIC) buildings, helps cover operational costs and staffing. For more information on ASI fees, visit the ASI webpage.
Instructionally Related Activities (IRA)
The IRA fee provides funding for out-of-class experiences integrally related to an instructional program and sponsored by an academic discipline. Approved IRA groups at Cal Poly Pomona include Rose Float, Diversity Ambassadors, Poly Post, Theatre, Mock Trial Association, and the Horse Show Team, to name a few. Visit the IRA website for more detailed information
Associated Students, Inc. Fee (ASI)
This fee covers the cost of student representation and governance, funding for student clubs and organizations, student services and programs including the Poly Pantry. For more information on ASI fees, visit the ASI webpage.

Student Success Fee (SSF Fee)
The Student Success Fee provides financial support to areas of the campus that have a significant impact on student retention and graduation and also creates additional funding for new programs and improvement for information technology services to help students.
For detailed information on how the Student Success Fee is allocated, visit the website.
Summer Education Support Fee
That is a mandatory fee to fund the support services provided to summer students by the academic departments, for information technology, for the learning management system, by the university library, by the Registrar’s Office, and by other university departments. A portion of this funding is set aside to provide financial aid for students attending self-support summer courses.
Student Health Fee
The Mandatory Student Health Fee provides students access and services to Student Health and Wellness Services throughout the academic semester. Eligibility for services starts with the first day of the semester and lasts through the end of the break period immediately following that semester. In addition, fall semester eligibility begins with the first day of the break period preceding the start of the semester, provided the student is registered and fees have been paid. The health fee covers only those services provided on campus. Outside referrals are at the expense of each student. We do not accept any outside insurance so additional expenses must be paid at the time they are received.
If you are not enrolled during summer term, but intend to return in the fall (“Continuing Student Status”), you may use the health services on a fee-per-visit basis (roughly 1/3 of the established fee) for the first 3 visits. After that, you do not have to pay a visit charge.

Here’s a breakdown of the cost of attendance elements you should take into consideration after tuition and fees:
- Food and Housing
- Transportation between campus, place of residence, and place of work
- Books, course materials, supplies, and equipment
- Personal Expenses
- Dependent Care Expenses (for those who have one or more dependents)
- Direct Loan origination fees (for those who borrow a Federal Direct loan)
