About the Program

Become a steward of sustainable communities and equip regions with strategies to adapt to environmental change. This option integrates science, environmental ethics and policy to address a wide variety of environmental issues. Environmental planning involves ethical and value judgments and planning processes that address uncertainty in natural and social systems. Topics range from local ecosystems to global climate change.

The Polytechnic Approach

Learn how to assess the environmental impact of projects and review environmental policies on local, regional, national and global scales. Study sustainable communities across cultures and develop climate action plans to make urban areas more resilient in the face of climate change. Your studies will prepare you to make a positive impact in the field of urban planning, with sustainability at your core.

Courses

This option integrates science, environmental ethics, and policy to tackle diverse environmental challenges. We prepare you to make ethical and value-based judgments in planning processes that deal with uncertainties in both natural and social systems. You will explore topics from local ecosystem management to global climate change, developing a comprehensive understanding of how to create sustainable and resilient communities in the face of environmental challenges.

Financial Aid & Scholarships

Peter J Pitassi Design Scholarship

Open to freshman, sophomore and incoming transfer students majoring in Architecture, Landscape Architecture or Urban and Regional Planning with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. This scholarship award is $2,000.
