About the Program

Become a powerhouse of the construction industry by combining business and civil engineering. Build a strong foundation in subjects such as structural engineering, project management and cost estimation. As a Construction Engineering and Management graduate, you will work with all areas of the industry including developers, architects, building departments, contractors and more. Through our numerous hands-on lab courses and classes focused on practical applications you will be well-prepared for your dream career in commercial, heavy-civil or residential construction.

Construction Engineering and Management

The Polytechnic Approach

With hands-on training in drafting, computer applications, surveying, soil mechanics, and more, you will be industry-ready from day one. Inspect and interpret construction drawings, assess risks to projects, and explore scheduling and resource allocation methods. Understand a project engineer’s role in managing legal, financial, and personnel aspects of a construction project.

The Construction Engineering and Management Program offers a comprehensive education for construction engineers and industry leaders. The Construction Engineering and Management Program provides the student with a firm background in construction practices. Graduates may eventually work in any area of construction including commercial, heavy-civil, and residential.

"My research expertise is in the area of construction engineering and management, specifically contracting methods, procurement strategies, cost forecasting, risk management, project performance metrics, and social aspects of construction projects. I have been heavily involved with transportation-related research (highways and airports) on the federal and state level. Before starting my academic career, I worked in the industry on mega construction infrastructure projects.”

Civil Engineering Student Activities

An excellent college education includes much more than classes, and extracurricular activities can enhance your college experience. That’s why the Civil Engineering Department encourages participation in student clubs, competition teams, and organizations.

The civil engineering department offers a civil engineering program leading to a Bachelor of Science degree. 

The Geospatial Engineering Option in the Civil Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the General Criteria, the Program Criteria for Civil and Similarly Named Engineering Programs, and the Program Criteria for Surveying and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
