“People’s warmest memories revolve around sharing a meal with loved ones and learning to operate a restaurant will allow me to provide that experience for many others,” says Sara Siu on hospitality. The first in her family to pursue a career in the field, she is determined to show how the career provides invaluable opportunities for connection and creativity. For the past three years, she has volunteered with the California Restaurant Association Foundation, which provides hospitality-oriented outreach to local high schools through tours and conferences and assists non-profits with charitable event planning. Her work provides her with the career skills needed for her ideal job – event planning for non-profits. Sara is grateful to her parents, whose hard work, perseverance, and determination is continous inspiration for her to graduate. She is honored to be a recipient of the President’s Scholars scholarship, which she says will help her work toward her aspriations to pursue a management development program abroad: “This scholarship will allow me to get the education I need to my goals and to provide people with experiences they will never forget.”
