Leading a nighttime tour of campus to listen to bats or figuring out ways to use social media to debunk crime myths are just two ways that Pedro explores his interest in social human interaction. “I enjoy spending time with people, whether it be a simple walk and talk on a new route to a class or an event with plenty of new faces.” He humorously recalls a recent nighttime adventure with friends, advancing on an isolated trail in the dark and being frozen in fear with the sounds of what sounded like laughter. Having the peace of mind to hit the record button for what turned out to be cries from a coyote den only yards away, he pragmatically preserved the terrifying sounds for a soundtrack for his horror film in the making. After he obtains his sociology degree, Pedro plans to fulfill his pre-med requirements to become a psychiatrist. “I
aspire to focus on community health and the treatment of underprivileged communities on biological, psychological and sociological levels,” Pedro says. “My inspiration for education is my drive to help others.”
