A highly supportive family inspires Justin to study civil engineering: his grandfather who worked as a construction worker recognized his aptitude in math and problem-solving; his parents are both passionate
schoolteachers; and his brother models success as a civil engineer. “My motivation to graduate is deeply
rooted in my family’s emphasis on the importance of education. Throughout high school, I faced and overcame numerous challenges, including sports injuries and surgeries, but learned resilience and determination. My experience as an athlete has taught me to compete and improve continually, and with the support of family, I aspire to be a role model and mentor” he says. His eagerness to contribute to innovative solutions to the larger community comes from his fascination with the intricacies of planning and efforts needed to create the structures and systems that we rely on daily. His dream is to start an engineering company with his brother and contribute to the growth of the Inland Empire, a community that has “been incredibly supportive of my family and me.”
