Jucinda feels deep empathy for those experiencing homelessness and sees her future career in hospitality
as her way to mitigate their challenges. From a young age, she has put her values into practice — aiding those in need by selling her toys in elementary school and donating the proceeds and also leading an effort in high school to distribute hygiene kits. At Cal Poly Pomona, she is thrilled to learn all she can from professors and peers as the best training possible for her goal of lifelong service. “This school closed the door on self-doubt and opened gates of opportunity for me,” Jucinda says. “My goals and dreams don’t revolve around me, but the simple fact that we only live once, therefore we only have one chance to make a difference in our community.” Jucinda loves all that she has learned about food and beverage and hopes to own her restaurant to one day direct profits to providing for other’s basic needs.
