Victor Baserga connects and empathizes with community members through social work, providing them with needed resources to improve their lives. Learning research methods at Cal Poly Pomona helps him to analyze social inequality issues, which allows him to assist clients on a deeper level. He also contributes his time to the university through Project Rebound. He guides formerly incarcerated students to navigate campus life and advocates for the community by building awareness to other students by sharing his experiences. Victor’s experience with the McNair Scholars Program is motivating him to attend graduate school in the future. He is inspired by the love and support from his family and is grateful to have a strong support network on campus. “My experience at Cal Poly Pomona can only be described as a blessing. I feel that every professor I’ve interacted with has had a positive impact on my life. Being recognized as a President’s Scholar makes me feel validated for the hard work I put into my education.”
