Office of the President

Vice President for Administrative Affairs and CFO, Ysabel Trinidad to Step Down

September 4, 2024

Dear Campus Community,

I write to share the news that Ysabel Trinidad, Vice President for Administrative Affairs and Chief Financial Officer, informed me of her intent to step down from her leadership role at the conclusion of 2024. She has provided fourteen years of service to the California State University, the last three of which at Cal Poly Pomona. At CPP, she has overseen the departments of Facilities Planning & Management, Financial Services, Budget Planning & Analysis, Risk Management, the University Police Department, and CPP Enterprises. I am grateful to Ms. Trinidad for her contributions to our campus and particularly for advancing valuable improvements to our administrative infrastructure as well as maintaining a strong financial position for the university amid a challenging budget environment for the CSU.

Ms. Trinidad joined CPP in July 2021, bringing over thirty years of experience in administrative leadership in public higher education. She previously served as the Vice President for Business and Financial Affairs at CSU Channel Islands from 2011-2021, where she was instrumental in developing and executing that campus’ 10-year, $850M capital expansion plan. She held previous leadership roles at the University of Washington, Tacoma and the University of Texas, San Antonio.

She has admirably served the CSU system by leading several committees and workgroups focused on land development and financial systems improvements and is an active member of the National Association of College and University Business Officer (NACUBO) and the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP).

During her time at CPP, Ms. Trinidad has led a range of projects and initiatives to improve our campus infrastructure and physical environment, strengthen our administrative processes and provide transparency about our resources and their deployment in service to our mission of student success and our strategic institutional priorities. Of note, she oversaw the demolition of the CLA Tower and construction of the Park at 98; led an ongoing effort to assess our classrooms and laboratories for modernization and capital improvements; and has been an essential contributor to our campus enrollment and fiscal planning. Please join me in thanking Ysabel Trinidad for her leadership and contributions to Cal Poly Pomona.

In the coming weeks, I will share further information about plans for continuity of leadership in the Division of Administrative Affairs and the search for her successor as Vice President and CFO.

Sincerely,

Soraya M. Coley, Ph.D.
President
